About Us

Noroc Event Planning is the culmination of a 25-year friendship, traveling the world and a shared commitment to the Greater Akron Community. Samantha and Getta first met 25 years ago in the hallways of Cuyahoga Falls High School and later attended Kent State University together. After graduation, they traveled together to places like England, Greece, Ireland, Italy and France. These years helped to inspire the value they both place in unique and memorable experiences.

After returning to Greater Akron, they rolled up their sleeves, put on comfortable heels and committed to getting involved in the community. For 18 years, they have managed the Halloween Charity Ball. The event has donated over $500,000 to nonprofits selected through a competitive application process. In addition, the duo have planned signature events for leading nonprofits including The Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation, Heart to Heart Communications, Torchbearers, and Victims Assistance. They also co-chaired the Cuyahoga Falls Better Block, which was a demonstration project in 2017 to activate Front Street and support local businesses.

About Getta

Working with others to give back to the community is in her DNA. Getta currently serves on the Board of Directors for Akron Rotary Camp, Akron Community Foundation Millennium Fund for Children Committee, the Andrea Rose Teodosio Foundation and is Vice-President of Leadership Akron Class 33. Her previous board and committee service includes the Community AIDS Network Akron Pride Initiative, Torchbearers, Victims Assistance Mardi Gras Gala, Heart to Heart Communications, and co-organized Cuyahoga Falls Better Block.

She has been recognized for her leadership in the community with the Akron Chamber of Commerce’s 30 for the Future Award, Summit County Historical Society’s Woman of the Year Award, and Victim Assistance Volunteer of the Year Award.

Getta is a mother to two beautiful boys, Alec and Myles, and married to Kyle. She enjoys spending time with her big Romanian family, usually around a table full of food! She loves traveling, exploring the nearby parks with her family and planning get-togethers with her gal pals.

About Samantha

Sam’s commitment to her community shines through everything she does. A graduate of both Kent State University and The University of Akron, for undergraduate and graduate school respectively, Sam uses her talents in marketing, communication strategy, and project management to educate and equip students in high school and college. An educator at Barberton High School for 16 years, Sam currently serves as District Representative for the regional DECA consortium which includes service on the statewide Executive Committee. Additionally, she has both written curriculum for and taught in the marketing program at The University of Akron.

Sam’s passion for her community is evident in the classroom and students are given the opportunity to develop projects and implement ideas that are important to them, and have a positive impact on the world around them. Students have launched businesses, found jobs, met mentors, and identified real-world solutions that remain in place long after graduation.

Sam is a proud alumna of Torchbearers, where she served as member, committee chair, and board member from 2013 to 2018 and as president in 2019. Previous board and committee service includes Akron Rotary, Heart to Heart Communications, Andrea Rose Teodosio Angel Art Auction, and many others.

In 2014, Samantha was recognized by the Greater Akron Chamber for her impact on the region as a “30 for the Future” award recipient. In 2018, she was honored by The University of Akron as a “5 Under 35” Outstanding Alumni, and in 2019 Summit County Historical Society named her a Woman of the Year. Additionally, Sam is a Barberton Community Leadership Institute Class 2 graduate.

Sam is a voracious reader and great lover of the outdoors- especially when the outdoors involves a body of water. When she isn’t working or volunteering for a favorite cause, you will just as likely find her curled up with a good book and her two cats, Bill and Ted, in her Highland Square home as on a kayak in the middle of the Cuyahoga - an activity Bill and Ted adamantly refuse to try. Sam loves traveling and the new people, food, and experiences it provides. That adventurous spirit follows her into the kitchen where she spends some of her happiest hours trying new recipes and feeding people she loves.
